Moldova is preparing proposals regarding the potential transfer of 20 locomotives to Ukraine. Additionally, the parties are working on establishing a new joint border crossing and ensuring unimpeded transit of Ukrainian cargo, as stated by Ukraine’s Minister of Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport, Mykola Kalashnik.
“Our priority is the unimpeded movement from Odesa to the Danube region,” Kalashnik wrote following a working meeting in the Odesa region with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea.
According to him, to facilitate transit, it is necessary to guarantee free and safe passage along the 7-kilometer stretch of the M-15 highway near Palanca. The parties are also preparing to launch a new joint checkpoint.
In the realm of railway transport, Moldova is developing proposals for the possibility of providing Ukraine with 20 locomotives. Furthermore, the sides are collaborating to ensure competitive transportation costs and additional routes for Ukrainian cargo through Moldova to the Romanian port of Constanța.
Kalashnik highlighted that the outcomes of these agreements should include an increase in the number of routes, expedited border crossings, and enhanced logistical connectivity between Ukraine, Moldova, and the European Union.
